Community Association Law

Alford & Barnes is one of the very few law firms in Alabama that specializes in Community Association Law.  These types of entities, typically seen in Alabama as Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs) and Condominium Associations (COAs), exist to protect the lifestyle and property values of the homes within the community by applying and enforcing covenants.  There are over 3,000 such community associations in Alabama, housing more than half a million residents.  Both HOAs and COAs have very specific laws and statutes regarding their formation, governance, and management.

The attorneys at Alford & Barnes pride themselves on having the knowledge and experience to assist associations, board members, community management companies, and property owners with all of their related legal matters.  Our attorneys are active members and Certified Business Partners of the Alabama Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), a trade organization which provides a wealth of information, education, and resources for anyone involved in community associations.
